Kaisercraft: Seaside

Ever have a 6x6 paper pad laying around and you are just dying to use it for a layout? Yup, that's how I was feeling, I love using 6x6 paper pads for layouts because the patterns on the 6x6 pads are much tighter and I personally think it makes for a better pattern when using bits and pieces.

Today I made a layout using Kaisercrafts: Seaside collection from the 6x6 paper pad. It was perfect for the beach pictures I had from my trip to The Gambia. I cut out several 1/2" strips of different lengths, layed out my photo's and it just came together!

As I mentioned above, this layout is from our last trip to The Gambia, Baz and I took a day off from spending time with his family to lay out and drink freshly made mango juice on the beautiful beach. I had a great time just relaxing, watching the waves crash and listening to reggae {mainly Bob Marley} in the background. We also did a little horse back riding on the beach {and paid a whopping $4 to do so!} but more on that in another post ;)

Turn A Layout Sketch Into A Card

Good Morning, I have an adorable card to share today, it was created by Sybrina King (Click Here To See Her Blog). She turned this layout sketch I showed you a little over a week ago into a card!

Isn't this such an adorable, fun summery card? Here are some tips Sybrina put together on her process from turning this layout sketch in to a card:

• The card is made from Jillibean Soup's Watermelon Gazpacho collection. 
• I took one of your book's tips and used the sketch as inspiration -- tweaking the sketch just a little. 
• I rotated 90 degrees for a horizontal card to better suit the lemonade embellishment, which is adhered using 3-D dots . 
• Next, I included your stripe in the background and added embellishments at the top left and bottom right corners.The only tweaking with these was I placed the embellishment in the bottom right behind the main focal point instead of in front of it.
• And one other tweak... My corner embellishments are not necessarily in the same proportions as those on your sketch.

Authentique: Glory Release

You may be wondering why I began today’s post this way. Sit tight – you’ll see! I have some awesome things to share today! Authentique has announced their newest release "Glory" on their blog today (click here to check it out). It is a beautiful collection with an Americana theme. I know what you’re thinking – “I don’t need to scrap the 4th of July every year!” but this collection is so beautiful that it extends beyond the obvious uses. The projects below are my recent work for Cord Camera Scrapbook Studio using the new Glory line from Authentique. You can also find my projects featured today on Authentique’s blog! Check out the Glory debut on their blog and I guarantee you’ll love the collection. The deep colors really get me – Aren’t they beautiful!?

The word glory can be defined by the terms listed at the beginning of this post. These priceless old photos that I have used are certainly witness to my own idea of glory. My family members before me serving in the military to protect this country and the people they loved – Glory. My parents bringing us into the world and raising us with love – Glory. And of course, this beautiful new collection from Authentique which helped me to finally create projects worthy of this piece of history – Glory.

Disney World Journal

Hello! Today I am sharing with you this awesome little journal that my mom made for me!! {Isn't she so sweet?} She made this for our family trip to Disney back in November, it was my boyfriend, Baz's first time ever to Disney world so we had lots of memories to record =)

We are major Disney Nuts in the Rock household, and we welcomed Baz into our Disney family after that trip--- he is now obsessed too!! LOL.

Follow Your Heart: Be Amazing- Card

Today I am sharing with you a card I made for Cord Scrapbook Studio using My Minds Eye: Follow Your Heart: Be Amazing Collection. The sentiment on the card says "be the best that you can possibly be". I personally really like cards with encouraging sentiments, this card is a very simple card but I like how it turned out, the paper itself seemed to have everything the card needed, so I pretty much just inked around the edges and added chipboard stickers and that was it!

My First Sketch Contest: Prize Winner

I have to say, choosing just one person for this contest was a LOT harder than I thought it would be-- no joke, so hard in fact I couldn't choose. Yup, I just couldn't do it! So, I asked my friend Tiffany from I Am My Design to choose for me!

My Minds Eye: Follow Your Heart Double Page Layout

I mentioned how much I love this new line riiight?? LOL-- I couldn't stop at just one single page layout, I just HAD to do another layout! This is also a project I did for Cord Scrapbooking Studio using My Mind's Eye: Follow Your Heart.

This layout is from my last trip to The Gambia {West Africa}. The Gambia is the home of Kunta Kinteh {you know--- ROOTS?} and known for it's bird wild life, and friendly monkeys! I have so many amazing memories from this trip but I have to say at the top of my list is Billijo National Forest where Baz and I hiked around on a trail surrounded by birds and monkey's! I had my back pack with me and earlier that day I had purchased some cashews, we pulled the bag of cashews out to snack on while hiking and it didnt take long for the monkeys to notice this delicious treat! Soon enough we were surrounded by hungry monkeys, we decided to go ahead and give them some {why not??}, they were very friendly monkeys, taking them politely our of our hands, I was so excited to be this close and have great interaction with them. I <3 monkeys!! At one point Baz sat down on a bench with the book bag strapped on while feeding a monkey, I look over and this sneaky monkey thought he was slick and was behind Baz trying to get some cashews out of the pocket where we kept them-- it was too funny! I shooed the sneaky monkey away and he backed down easily..... it was such a great experience, so much fun.

Happy April Fool's!! Have you been fooled or are you the fooler today?? The first of the month is always my personal favorite time of the month since I get to share with you one of me newest sketch designs!! So, to not make you wait any longer =) Here is April's Sketch Of The Month!:
